the president, peace corps house, and how to write you name on your paper

The President of the Philippines came to Palawan!! It was pretty sweet and we got some good shots of him that you can see on facebook. What was possibly even more sweeter was how close we were to his helicopter as well as the support helicopter and Huey escort helicopter. It is amazing how helicopters can just hover like 20 feet off the ground. I also got a picture with Ms. Palawan and the Ms. International beauty queens. There was one other but I don’t know her name. Anyone want their numbers?? Biro lang !

The housing situation is still in progress. We have found what has been named the Peace Corps House in Palawan. We got a tour and it looks great and have expressed interest to rent. They said no problem but the family who wants to rent the house currently lives in it so we are waiting for them to pack up and move to one of their other houses. We also haven’t gotten anything in writing yet so its not official. It’s a little strange but we hope to know soon. It is very close to where Krystal works at PSU which means her commute will be shorter and safer. It triples my commute but that’s ok. It is also close to some friends houses as well as some organic gardens and markets where we can get out foodstuffs etc. It is also outside the main city which is really nice.

I recently found out an interesting tidbit of information. In the Philippines, students write their names on the top left of their papers not the top right like in the United States. It was funny when my counterpart and I were walking around teaching a group of children at risk telling them to write their names on the left and the right. We were a little confused when they came up with names written on both sides of the paper.

Hello Matt and Krystal,
How cool that will be to have your own place. I am glad it is near Krystal’s work and she won’t be walking far. I am glad you two have each other. It will be nice being close to friends. E-mail your new address and a wish list. Ha Ha
Sounds cool seeing the President of Palawan. Maybe you can get your pilots license when you get back to the states, and fly anywhere. I am glad You and Krystal are enjoying the Philippines. Stay Safe, Love to both of you. Peace love MUM

When you say that it would be a safer commute for Krystal, is it that bad? Look out for my daughter, remember that time in the living room of the apartment Mike and I shared, came down stairs and had our talk. I am licensed and trained so be very careful with her or ... ok, ok, calm down, only kidding... or am I, LOL.

Yes, I would love to fly, always wanted to. My ultimate would be to have a helicopter in my backyard, an AIRWOLF, with all the hardware, the ships guns would be fake of course but functional. Not sure if you know the AIRWOLF helicopter is but it is the 12 seat modified with weapons, it was a show back a few years ago. Back in my Digital days, they had one and it flew in when I use to take a smaller one to go to Maynard, it would bend the trees as it came in, so cool.

Hope you get the house, would be nice for the both of you. Take care and keep the updates coming. Tom C. (Dad)

Hey Matt and Krystal, Good luck on the Peace Corps house, will be nice to be where you can get fresh organic produce and be more out in the country. The pix of the president's visit on FB were neat, and right up your alley with all the aircraft! Can't wait to see pix of your new digs too! Love you both, Mom and Dad K.
