Loy Krathong Floating Lantern Festival

This festival takes place in Chiang Mai, Thailand and from the pictures and comments we have seen it is not something to miss. Luckily for us this year the festival takes place on November 28th and as such we have changed our plans so we can enjoy this amazing event.

We still plan to arrive in Bangkok on November 25th and spend some time with some PC friends but then we plan to take an overnight train all the way up to Chiang Mai and then work our way back down to Bangkok and over to Cambodia and finally Vietnam. We have decided to skip Laos (I know very upsetting) but we don't want to rush through anything and given time and travel distances we think it will be much more enjoyable to concentrate on Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam for a month.

The lanterns are believed to give luck/get rid of troubles and also includes floats that make their way to the Mae Ping River.
